About Jo Hudson

Primarily I am a watercolourist, though I do paint in oils and other media. Inspiration comes from all the natural beauty that I see around me and I enjoy the constant challenge of trying to capture the essence of this in my paintings. Like all artists I'm fascinated by the effects of light but I'm also intrigued by texture - the 'feel' of things.

I am completely self-taught. The urge to paint has been with me since I was a child but it wasn't until 1988 that I was able to indulge my passion. In 1990 I staged my first solo exhibition and

since then have exhibited regularly. My paintings are now in private collections throughout the UK and in many parts of the world.

In 1992 I set up my own Watercolour Painting School in Sussex, which is still flourishing and, in addition, I run a One Day Watercolour Workshop each month. I also act as visiting tutor to local Art Groups and until recently tutored at Residential Colleges throughout the UK.
